School, Community, Mental Health, & Parent Groups
In addition to his speaking engagements, Dr. Brooks has consulted to schools and school systems, mental health agencies, the media, and businesses. He has helped staff to articulate short term and long term goals, enhance problem solving skills, define and overcome obstacles to change, learn ways to deal with stress, and foster more effective working relationships among colleagues and with students or clients. The recipient of numerous professional, community, and government awards, Dr. Brooks is on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and has served as Director of the Department of Psychology at McLean Hospital. He has made more than 200 appearances on television shows in the Boston area and on national cable television discussing a variety of psychological topics. He completed a videotape for PBS on the topic of resilience and self-esteem. He is frequently cited in newspaper and magazine articles, including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Newsweek, Time, and Parents.
